Sadly, terrorism knows no bounds

Pure evil in Manchester.

But we shouldn’t be so smug to think terror can’t happen here.

It has: Radical Islamic terror, a Sikh terrorist conspiracy, potentially Islamophobic terror, anti-Semitic and homophobic terror plots and attacks on military.

Just like everywhere else.

Big, small, political, national or religious — all are pathetic, unacceptable.

Canadian singer/songwriter Mo Kenney said it best on Newstalk 1010 on Tuesday from Manchester, where she played a sold-out show.

“I am not going to live in fear,” she told host Jim Richards. “I am not going to change my plans. That’s what these people want.”

On social media, superstar Torontonian Drake told of the reality on social media: “We just left from touring in Europe and this was such a real fear we discussed frequently. I was crushed today to hear it became a reality.”

Where’s the next target? Who’s the next victim?

Can you keep track of the previous ones? Charlie Hebdo, the Bataclan Music Hall in Paris, the one on the bridge near Big Ben in London, at the nightclubs in Istanbul or Orlando, or the office in San Bernadino. So many in the Middle East and Afghanistan.

We, too, have not been immune.

Remember the gutless car attack that killed Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent near Montreal and the shooting murder of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo in Ottawa?

The Air India bombing which killed 268 Canadians. The FLQ crisis, or the despicable slaughter of six innocent people at the mosque in Quebec? The Toronto 18 terror plot that threatened malls and Parliament was disturbing, as was the 2013 VIA Rail terror plot.

In Toronto, the knife attack that wounded Canadian soldiers at a Yonge Street recruitment centre with a suspect allegedly yelling “praise Allah,” or the recent arrest of a man threatening on social media that “we are going to make every front page in the world” and warning “Toronto f---” ... to “please stay away from the CN Tower.”

There was a speaker at the downtown Toronto Masjid Mosque apologizing for saying “Allah! Give them victory over the criminal people ... slay them one by one and spare not one of them, O Allah! Purify Al-Aqsa Mosque from the filth of the Jews!”

Not in Europe or Afghanistan.

Dundas Street.

And the thwarted bomb attack in Strathroy that went off in a taxi scheduled for the local bus station.

There are vermin here who will try to kill us and our freedoms. The shunning, shaming and name calling over political correctness needs to be replaced by co-operation to eradicate the terrorists.

Terror is real. Their carnage is local.
